Netflix is the most popular streaming platform of this generation. I am planning to watch as many dramas and series this year as I can. My January watch list is here, and I have mixed feelings about it. Some I liked, some I didn’t. To be honest, my decision to continue watching any drama or series depends on the very first episode. If it is boring, then I am not going to wait until the fifth or sixth episode. As my friends used to say, ‘Let the characters build up, and then things will get interesting

Geongsong Creature

I have been watching Korean dramas since 2015, and this year I came across a particular fantasy fiction supernatural drama from the Korean industry. The main protagonists are Han So-hee and Park Seo-joon, both well-known Korean celebrities. Han So-hee’s ‘My Name’ is one of my favorites, and I have become a fan of Park Seo-joon from dramas like ‘Itaewon Class’ and ‘What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.’

The drama ‘Geongsong Creature’ is available on Netflix. Though the first season is super intriguing, the ending is full of suspense, which definitely keeps you hooked. The story revolves around a creature born of a human, and the terror begins from there. The acting, cinematography, visuals, sounds, and even the songs are perfect. I particularly like the song ‘Forever’ by Suho from this drama, and I may have listened to it more than a hundred times.

The Demon

The next drama I would like to recommend is ‘The Demon,’ with the main protagonists being Song Kang and Kim Yoo-jung. Another drama featuring Kim that I liked is ‘Love in the Moonlight,’ and for Song Kang, it’s ‘Sweet Home.’ This Korean fantasy supernatural drama, titled ‘My Demon,’ revolves around the lives of a heiress and a demon with supernatural powers, and the story is available on Netflix. I particularly like its title track, ‘True’ by Yaori, available on Spotify.

The characters are beautifully portrayed, and the pace of the story is excellent. Each episode is full of suspense, making it the perfect way to keep you hooked. Do watch the drama up until the 14th episode has been aired, and the last two episodes will be aired next week.

The Railway Man

This Netflix series is based on the true story of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy in 1984 and the struggle of railway workers who risked their lives to save thousands of people. The main protagonists are R. Madhavan and K.K. Menon, and their tremendous acting skills are like the icing on the cake. The series consists of only four episodes, categorizing it as a Netflix mini-series. It is informative, factual, and something every Indian, and not just in India, should know about. The world should be aware too. I particularly enjoyed the song “Nindiya.” Do watch it if you haven’t

12th FAIL

One word to describe this movie: “WOW.” I mean, truly, what an incredible film. I never expected such a concept to be brought to life one day. It’s so true and relatable, especially for aspirants aiming to clear the civil service or any tier 1 exam. The movie taught us the importance of consistency, hard work, and never giving up on achieving success. It emphasizes how we shouldn’t label ourselves based on our background, be it our parents’ status or our financial standing. Talent and knowledge are everything, and when we are focused on our dream and goal, we are all the same. Therefore, never give up and always concentrate on the “restart” mindset.

The protagonists of this movie are Medha Shankar and Vikrant Massey, but the character Gauri Bhaiya, portrayed by Ashuman Pushkar, truly steals the spotlight. If you haven’t watched the movie yet, head to hotstar and check it out.

Call

Recently, I watched a Korean movie titled “Call,” released in 2020, categorized as a horror mystery. I hadn’t planned on watching it, as most of us tend to struggle with decision-making when opening Netflix. However, while scrolling, this movie caught my eye, and I decided to give it a watch. It is very well crafted, with outstanding performances by all the characters, particularly Park Shin Hye and Jeon Jong Seo. Each scene is filled with suspense, ensuring that it will keep you hooked until the end. You can find it on Netflix, so go check it out now.

These are some of my recent watches over the past 15 days. What about you? I’d love to hear your recommendations for good movies, dramas, and documentaries. Feel free to share your suggestions in the comments below, and let’s keep it open for discussion
